Smooth mouthfeel and just the right amount of body .
This is a coffee where you can feel the "elegance" and "brightness" that are characteristic of Rwanda.
Shiny new beans have arrived from Rwanda, which I visited in May 2018!
Murambihiru is located in Ngororero County, Western Province.
Inside is the "Machiazo" washing station.
"Machiazo" apparently means the action of sharpening a stone.
It is said that this land was named because there are relatively many stones.
The surrounding area has a high altitude, ranging from 1,800m to over 2,000m.
Compared to southern Rwanda, the climate is cooler and the rainfall is relatively higher.
Originally, the Western Province itself was a thriving coffee producing region, but Ngororero County was an area that did not attract much attention.
Rwanda has developed with the help of foreign aid as part of its reconstruction efforts from the still recent civil war.
At the beginning, the quality was not stable, and most of the trade was for the purpose of supporting Rwanda.
Since then, the quality has improved little by little every year. As a result of their efforts, in recent years it has become recognized as one of the leading producers of high-quality coffee.
The photo shows washed refined coffee.
After harvesting, the red pulp called ``coffee cherry'' is removed first, and the parchment layer underneath is dried to remove defective beans.
