Refreshing acidity like "citrus" or " orange"

Rwanda's distinctive features are "elegance" and "brightness"

This coffee also has the characteristics of the "Bourbon" variety.

Shiny new beans have arrived from Rwanda, which we visited in May 2018!

Recently, it has become possible to ship Rwandan coffee in its entirety, giving us the opportunity to experience even more specific characteristics.

At Coffee Mamebo, the name is "Lwesero Hill", then "Murambi Hill", then "Kabinana Hill".

The impression of "Kabinana Hill" is smoothness and moderate richness,

I was surprised to find that this Kabinana had a refreshing citrus-like taste.

Kabinana Hill is located in Ngororero District, Western Province.

Inside is the "Machiazo" washing station.

"Machiazo" apparently refers to the action of sharpening a stone.

The name was chosen because the area has a relatively large amount of rocks.

The surrounding area is at a high altitude, ranging from 1,800m to over 2,000m.

Compared to southern Rwanda, it is cooler and has relatively more rainfall.

Although the Western Province itself is a major coffee-producing region, Ngorolero County has never received much attention.

Rwanda has developed with the help of foreign aid as it has been recovering from a civil war that is still a recent event.

In the beginning, the quality was unstable and much of the trade was for the purpose of supporting Rwanda.

Since then, the quality has improved little by little every year. Thanks to their efforts, in recent years, the area has become recognized as one of the leading producers of high-quality coffee.

The photo shows washed coffee.

After harvesting, the red flesh called "coffee cherries" is removed first, and the shell underneath, called "parchment," is then dried and defective beans are removed.
